First Appearance

Update 0.12.1

Blazes are Hostile Mobs that were added in Update 0.12.1. They spawn in the Nether in Nether Fortresses from Blaze Spawners. They drop 0-2 Blaze Rods when killed.

Offense

Blazes attack by shooting 3 fireballs at the Player, which set him/her on Fire. If the Player gets close, they can also attack by charging at the Player. They can hover, making them quicker and harder to fight in open spaces.

Combat

Blazes can be killed easily using a high-tier Sword, but in open spaces, Bows are recommended. They can also be killed easily if the Player has Snowballs.

Trivia

  • Blazes actually do not have a 'body'. Their insides are hollow.
  • Blazes, Snow Golems and Endermen are the only Mobs that take damage from Water and rain.
    • Blazes are also the only mobs that take damage from snowballs.
  • Blaze's fireballs cannot harm the Players if they have the Fire Resistance Effect, thus nullifying their attacks.
  • Before Update 0.13.0, Blazes were the only mobs that attacked the Player in Creative.
  • They have small chances to spawn in Nether Fortresses without a Monster Spawner.
  • Blazes are the second flying Mob added to MCPE, the first being the Bat, the third being the Ghast, the fourth being the Wither and the fifth being the Ender Dragon.
