Update 0.1.0

Cobblestone is a Block in Minecraft Pocket Edition that was added in Update 0.1.0.

Obtaining

Cobblestone can be mined from Stone blocks which degrade into Cobblestone, or Cobblestone blocks. It can be mined with a Wooden Pickaxe or better. In addition to its presence underground, Cobblestone in various variations can be found in Dungeons and Jungle Temples.

The Player can make a Cobblestone Generator with Water and Lava, making it an infinite resource to obtain Cobblestone in the Overworld.

Smelting

  • 1 Cobblestone + Any Fuel => 1 Stone

Usage

Cobblestone is one of the most useful blocks in Minecraft, as it can be used as an easily available building material as well as a Crafting Ingredient in many Stone related Items and Tools.

Cobblestone has a better blast resistance than Wooden Blocks, and as such provides better protection from explosions. In the Nether it can be used to protect from the Ghast Fireballs.

Trivia

  • Stone or Cobblestone can be mined by hand, but it will not yield the resource after being broken.
    • It takes about 4 seconds to do so, much longer in duration than with the correct Tool.
    • Flint and Steel or Shears can be used to break Cobblestone relatively faster than by hand, as they are Iron Tools.
  • When the colors of the Cobblestone texture are inverted, it appears to be End Stone.
  • Silverfish can infest Cobblestone, turning it into a Monster Egg.
  • Before Update 0.12.1, Cobblestone was used to build a Player-built structure known as the Nether Reactor.
