First Appearance

Update 0.8.0

The Dead Bush is a Block that was added in Update 0.7.0 through Inventory Editing, and was officially added in Update 0.8.0.

Obtaining

Dead Bushes spawn naturally in Desert and Mesa Biomes. They can also be found in Taigas, growing on Podzol.

The only way to obtain Dead Bushes is to mine them using Shears. Mining them will not decrease the durability of the Shears. They can be placed in Flower Pots as Decorations.

Usage

If not mined with Shears, they drop 0-3 Sticks. Since Dead Bushes are most often found in the Desert and Mesa Biomes, this gives them a limited usage as a resource to get Sticks in those biomes which lack Trees in general.

Trivia

  • Before Dead Bushes were added to the game in Update 0.8.0, the only way to obtain them was via Inventory Editor.
  • Until Update 0.12.1, the Dead Bushes couldn't be mined at all.
  • The amount of sticks dropped by Dead Bushes cannot be increased with a Fortune Enchanted Tool
