Gravel is a naturally occurring Block mostly found underground. When mined it has a 1/5 chance to drop 1 Flint. Gravel also obeys Gravity

Generation

Gravel generates in small patches in Caves and in other Underground Structures. Rarely, it can also be found on the surface. Gravel can also be found in small patches near Water Bodies and in the Nether. Before Update 0.11.0, Gravel used to generate naturally as the roads in Villages however, they were replaced by Grass Paths.

Trivia

  • As of Update 0.9.0, Gravel no longer falls unless a Block is placed or destroyed near it.
  • As of Update 0.12.1, Gravel can be found in the Nether.
  • Gravel breaks upon falling on Torches, Flowers, Saplings, and other non-solid Blocks, but will never drop Flint.
  • Before Update 0.8.0, Gravel had a different texture. Gravel-Pre 12w21a
  • Gravel Blocks that are liable to collapse release small particles.
  • Version Exclusive: Naturally generated Gravel doesn't collapse when mined using a Silk Touch Enchanted Pickaxe.
  • When Gravel is falling, it becomes an entity, so it can be Fished towards the Player with a Fishing Rod. This is also true for Sand.
