Lava Pools

A Lava Pool

Generated Structure

Commonly in Desert, or underground

First Appearance

Update 0.9.0

Lava Pools are Generated Structures that were added in Update 0.9.0.

Lava Pools appear on the surface most often in Deserts, but can be found in most Biomes.

Underground Lava Pools are located directly below level 11, making that level a safe place for mining. Lava Pools located underground can spawn at other levels, but not nearly as frequently as on the Lava Level.

On the surface, the Lave Pools seldomly cover an area larger than a 5x9 rectangle, and are usually bordered with Stone.

The underground Lava Pools can be much larger, and tend to go in a diagonal direction.

  • Lava Pools are a source of Light, since they light up underground Caves and illuminate their surroundings at night.
  • Since Diamond Ore are most commonly found in levels 5 through 12, mining at the Lava Pool level is considered a safe and promising level to mine at.
  • Lava is dangerous for the Player, and can set the Player, Mobs or surrounding flammable blocks on fire.
