Markus Persson (aka Notch) is a Swedish game-designer and programmer, who founded Mojang along with Carl Manneh and Jakob Porter. He is famous for creating the famous game, Minecraft Pocket Edition.
Biography
Markus was born in Stockholm, Sweden to a Finnish mother and a Swedish father. He lived in Edysbn for the first 7 years of his life, and began to program and design games at a very young age.
Game Development
Mojang
After leaving programming for King.com, Notch founded Mojang along with Carl Manneh and Jakob Porser. Here, he created many games, including Minecraft and Scrolls.
Minecraft
Notch created the popular sandbox-indie game, Minecraft after leaving his full-time job. It was released officially on 18 November 2011. The Xbox and Pocket Editions were also released soon after.
Markus stopped working on Minecraft after Mojang was acquired by Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
Trivia
- Notch is rumored to have a dead brother, Herobrine. The rumor comes from a CreepyPasta of the same name, and Herobrine has been reportedly spotted occasionally in Minecraft. However, Notch has confirmed that this is false because Notch only has a half brother whom he never sees.
- Herobrine has, however, become an urban legend in Minecraft with many documentaries and stories revolving around him.
- Notch was married to Ez, however, they were divorced in 2012.
