Passive Mob

HeartHalf heart

0-1 Raw Rabbit (or Cooked when on fire), 0-1 Rabbit Hide, 0-1 Rabbit's Foot

First Appearance

Update 0.13.0

Rabbits are Passive Mobs that were added in Update 0.13.0. They are small, harmless creatures that drop Raw Rabbit, Rabbit Hide, and Rabbit's Foot. Raw Rabbit can be cooked and used to craft Rabbit Stew.

Rabbits spawn in the Forest, Desert, Savannah and Snow Biomes. They spawn in groups of 3-4, and will vary in color depending on the Biome.

Rabbits hop around aimlessly, and will find and destroy any mature crops other than Wheat, Melons, and Pumpkins. They will follow the Player if they hold Carrots, Golden Carrots, or Dandelions, and can be Bred using them.

Rabbits will run away from the Player (unless they are holding one of the above Food items) and Wild Wolves, and the latter will attempt to chase them down and kill them. Tamed Wolves, however, will not do so unless the Rabbit has been hit first.

  • Rabbits' fur color depends on the Biome they are spawned in.
  • Rabbits are able to sprint as fast as the Player when being chased or when hit.
  • Rabbits run away from Wolves.
  • Easter Egg: Naming a rabbit Toast will give it a different fur color in honor of the runaway pet rabbit of a friend of one of the developers.
  • Version Exclusive: Rabbits are smaller in Pocket Edition than they are in the PC Version.
