Ravines are Generated Structures that were added in Update 1.2.
Generation
Ravines generate like Caves, but larger and deeper.
Structure
Ravines are large cracks that are usually no bigger than 7 Blocks wide, but can be 40-50 Blocks deep, often leading to various underground structures such as Dungeons, Abandoned Mineshafts, and rare Ores. Ravines often generate with the surface exposed, but ravines can also generate underground with no exposed surface.

- Ravines had previously been rumored for Update 0.9.0, Update 0.10.0, Update 0.13.0 and Update 0.14.0, but were not added.
