Redstone is an item that was added in Update 0.8.0. It is obtained from mining Redstone Ore. Redstone may also be found in small quantities inside Dungeon chests.
Obtaining
It is possible to obtain Redstone Dust from Redstone Ore. Before Update 0.8.0 when mined, it would just break and not drop anything.
Crafting
- 6 Gold Ingot + 1 Stick + 1 Redstone Dust = Powered Rail
- 4 Iron Ingot + 1 Redstone Dust = Compass
- 4 Gold Ingot +1 Redstone Dust = Clock
- 9 Redstone Dust = Redstone Block
Trivia
- Presently, redstone can't be placed on the ground as redstone dust.
- It has been stated by the Devs that Redstone circuits will be added sometime this year.
- Redstone is used to construct various circuits to power devices, but for now it is still a crafting ingredient.
- In a future update, some, if not all redstone-related items will be added.
- Redstone Blocks came in the 0.11.0 update.
- Redstone, along with Nether Quartz Ore is the only ore that doesn't exist in real life.
