Wool is a block mainly used for decoration and Beds. It is not very hard to find and is considered renewable as it can be obtained from killing Spiders and Shearing Sheep. To obtain colored wool you must kill or shear a sheep (may require dye).

Obtainability

The main method of obtaining wool is by either by killing or Shearing Sheep. Wool can also be crafted out of 4 pieces of String, which can be obtained by killing Spiders.

Uses

As stated above, Wool is mainly used for decoration. This is because it can be dyed a wide variety of colors. Wool can also be used to make Beds. If you have dyed Wool, it will not change the color of the Bed. In the creative inventory, all colors of Wool are available. Some sheep have natural colors of Wool: brown, white, gray, light gray, black, and pink. Pink is very rare, however. Only white Wool can be dyed. Wool can also be used to craft carpets to make a nice setup for a table. They need two of the colored wool and that will yield out 3.
